MLB Pages - Stories of the Saints

This post contains affiliate links to the materials I actually use for homeschooling. I hope you find them helpful. Thank you for your support!

I've taught some of these saints before, but these MLB photographs are from last school year's version. My daughter Leah did this block in 6th grade because she was new to Waldorf education and I thought she would enjoy it. I also felt like it laid a good foundation for the study of the Middle Ages later that year.

Please also check out the Saints page on my website
It is full of a variety of resources and notes for these blocks!

My favorites?

I do love the watercolor painting for Rose of Lima. Leah painted her bed and then added coarse sea salt so that it had the texture of the broken pottery and glass she slept on. You can't really tell this from the photograph but the effect in person is quite nice.

I loved her dedication, which I thought was adorable! "Dedicated to Colman, Isidore, and all of those hundreds of saints that didn't get to have a page in my MLB. Your stories are magnificent; my mom just didn't pick you."

I also thought it was hilarious that she wrote the legend of Saint Kevin "in the style of Paul Harvey."

And, finally, I like the creative way she drew her summary for Elzéard Bouffier, The Man Who Planted Trees, inside an acorn. (Some people do "Saints and Virtuous People" instead of just a "Saints" block. When we were doing this block she happened to find an old cassette tape of this book. When she learned who he was, she asked if we could include him in her MLB as well, so of course I said yes. It was a very happy accident!)
