Christopher's Harvest Time

Our first (first year) beeswax modeling was acorns with real acorn caps. I let the children take them home for their own Nature tables. Usually, however, the beeswax stays at school to be used over and over again.

This week we are making the ball shape with our beeswax. Arthur Auer, in his book about the modeling curriculum, gives indications for each grade level. He suggests doing the frog, princess, and golden ball from the fairy tale "The Frog-King, or Iron Henry." I am starting with a simple ball and we are using the story Christopher's Harvest Timeby Elsa Beskow. It is fun and so suited to the season.
